The Ordinary Seaman (Writer) Pocket Handbook issued May 1964 is available to download here.  The Ordinary Seaman (Writer) Pocket Book’ first issued May 1964 was given to all Ordinary Seaman Writers on completion of their Recruit or Junior Recruit training. The book provided details of: The Supply Branch; the Advancement system; Practical training; and a list of 100 questions for you to know.

PERPETUAL TROPHY AND PRIZE

In 2006 the Association  donated a  perpetual trophy to be held at HMAS Cerberus which will have the name of the  most successful student on each Initial Writer Course engraved.   The most successful student on each Initial Writer Course will also be  awarded a book prize inscribed accordingly and a RAN Writers pen engraved  with their name.

In 2011 approval was given to donate a perpetual trophy for the Intermediate and Advanced Writers Courses. An appropriate gift is also awarded to the 'dux of the year' for both courses
